4 Meters Wave Threats South Cilacap Waters: Okezone News
CILACAP – A four meter high wave threatens shipping activities in the waters south of Cilacap and surrounding areas until 26 October. For this reason, fishermen are asked to always be careful and pay attention to safety when going to sea.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of the Cilacap Meteorological Station released a high-wave early warning of potential to occur October 23-26. The reason is the 37 km / hour wind that consistently occurs in the waters of West Lampung, the waters south of Banten to West Java, and the Indian Ocean west of Lampung to southern Banten.
“This condition has resulted in an increase in wave height in these regions,” said BMKG Cilacap Meteorological Station prelate Adnan Dendy Mardika on Wednesday (10/24/2018).
He said, the wave height of 2.5 – 4 meters was likely to occur in the southern waters of Cilacap, the waters south of Kebumen, the waters south of Purworejo, and the waters south of Yogyakarta. Besides that the big waves also threaten the southern Indian Ocean Cilacap, the southern Indian Ocean Kebumen, the south Indian Ocean Purworejo, and the south Indian Ocean Yogyakarta.
He added, it is necessary to pay attention to the high risk of shipping safety. Among them are Fishing Boat (wind speed of more than 15 knots and wave height above 1.25 m), Barge (wind speed of more than 16 knots and wave height above 1.5 m), Ferry (wind speed of more than 21 knots and wave height above 2.5 m), Large Size Ships such as Cargo Ships / Cruise Ships (wind speeds of more than 27 knots and wave height above 4 m).
“Communities, fishermen, and ships carrying out activities on the south coast of Java, please consider these conditions,” he concluded.
