PORT CAMARGUE National Open South Dragon from 2 to 7 September 2019

In this year of the 90th anniversary of this legendary boat, the Nautical Society of Grau King Port Camargue organizes in the framework of the Championship of France 2019 the National Open South Dragon from 2 to 7 September 2019 Port Camargue.

This open will host a dozen national and international champions with the presence of some big names in the discipline: Ronalds JAMES (GB), Gauthier GUILLOU (FR), Alain LATHIOR (FR), Gerard BLANC (FR), Jean BREGER (No. 2 French of the discipline), Gabia WILKINSON (UK), Martin PAYNE (UK), Tim TADINOR (CH) …

The organizers have chosen Ophélie BAU, nominated at the 2019 César of the best female hope as godmother of this Open South Dragon 2019.

A legendary boat: The Dragon

Designed in 1929 by the Norwegian naval architect Johan Anker, the Dragon is a very technical sailboat and very complex with more than 32 points of settings, sailor can sail up to 30 knots of wind. It is quite natural that the Dragon class is considered as that of purists and champions.

To discover or rediscover the dragon, you can find the moored flotilla dock Escale, forecourt Jean Balladur (Port Camargue Port Authority) from Monday, September 2.

The regattas will compete with 3 races per day and the races will take place during 4 days:

– Tuesday 3rd of September: departure of the boats around 13h00 regatta around 14h00

– Wednesday 4, Thursday 5 and Friday 6: departure of the boats around 10:00 am regatta around 11:00

Note that a video screen installed on the dock will track live races through the “tracking” device.

– Demonstration of games on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 19:00 – Quai d’escale.
