Along 112 mt is driven by two motors from 1 mW powered by fuel cells, with 6000 km of autonomy

Bill Gates is one of the richest men in the world. The co-founder of Microsoft is currently the second person on earth with the largest bank account, estimated at around 95.4 billion dollars. It’s also an enthusiast of luxury yachts, on board of which he spends most of his holidays.

Now the US tycoon a step would go further and would spend – according to some rumors circulating on the Internet – a real fortune to buy one of the most advanced vessels. And not just because the Aqua, as it is called, is an extremely elegant, but because it is a vessel of 100 meters long push by an advanced hydrogen technology.

Being even a level beyond what is commonly known as a multimillion-dollar offers endless options, such as donating $ 100 million to combat coronaviruses or purchase a mega yacht. But a yacht all but one of the most impressive ever seen and the estimated value (it is difficult indeed to give an exact figure to a similar object) would be about 550 million euro.

What would so special about this boat for which Bill Gates would be willing to shell out so much money? In addition to having a landing strip for a private helicopter, a spa, a gym and a solarium overlooking the bow, a kit of 31 people and an infinity pool, the Aqua is also an environmentally friendly ship, as it moves through to fuel cell technology.

The yacht hydrogen is going to be made (by 2024) by the prestigious Dutch company Sinot – which, however, denied that it sold to Bill Gates – and the hearts of his 112 meters and five bridges, hides a mechanism that exploits two deposits sealed from 28 tons where liquid hydrogen is stored at a temperature of -253 °. This fuel is used, mixing it with oxygen through the fuel cell to generate electricity sufficient to move two huge engines from 1mW (1,341 hp) connected to the propellers.

In terms of performance, a top speed of 17 knots (31.5 km / h) and a range of 6,000 kilometers with a full tank was declared. With such autonomy should have no problems to find a point of hydrogen filling, but in case of necessity was also mounted a mechanical system ‘lifesaving’ diesel powered.
