In a week the Franco Casareto Memorial Trophy

We arrived at the fourth edition of the Trofeo Memorial Franco Casareto sailing regatta, set up to celebrate the memory of Franco Casareto, known by all as “Franco Capo Horn”, who suddenly left us in 2015.

A very well-known face in the nautical world, a discreet, kind and helpful, competent and capable person, who was able to combine professionalism and friendship in his work as a repairer and rigger of the most important sailing, racing and cruising boats in Tigullio , for many years advisor of the Chiavari Yacht Club.

The regatta, which will be held on Saturday 11 May, as every year has been strongly desired by the members of the YCC Executive Council, by all the Members and in particular by Giuseppe Giuffré, YCC member and owner of the glorious Low Noise, who collaborates in the realization of the event.

The Low Noise 1 and Low Noise 2 boats, which have always been treated and equipped by Franco Casareto with dedication, love and commitment, have had a very prestigious list of honors and brought the leader of the Chiavari Yacht Club to four victories at the World Sailing Championships d’Altura (2009 in Brindisi, 2011 in Crés, 2014 in Kiel and 2015 in Barcelona) and two victories in the European Championships (2012 in Punta Ala and 2014 in Valencia).

The Trofeo Memorial Franco Casareto 2019 regatta, sponsored by the Municipality of Chiavari and with the collaboration of Marina Chiavari and Calata Ovest, is open to boats of the classes O.R.C., I.R.C., Cruise and J80 and consists of the coastal path Chiavari / San Fruttuoso / Chiavari.

For boats coming from far away, Marina Chiavari and Calata Ovest will provide their own moorings on regatta days.

In addition to the prizes for the winners, the Franco Casareto Challenge Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the first overall classified boat in the largest class.

At the end of the regatta, the award ceremony will be held at the Headquarters of the Chiavari Yacht Club, in the Tourist Port, in the presence of shipowners, racers, journalists and authorities.
