The student regatta: two hundred in San Giuliano with Avis

Two hundred “fans” and sixty young canoeists will fill the spaces of Canottieri di Mestre in the regatta to be held Saturday, May 4 from 8.30 to 12 in San Giuliano.

The initiative

The high school students of Mestre, together with Avis, will launch in a non-competitive regatta that will see many athletes from Pacinotti Massari, the Istituto San Marco and the Morin sports high school called to the challenge in the water. The event that will last 2 hours will be followed by an intervention by Avis Mestre-Marghera who will discuss the theme of the Gift with the children. “The regatta among the institutions of Mestre is our great opportunity to enter schools in an innovative and compelling way – says Lucia Del Sole, president of Avis Mestre and Marghera – we want to convey the message that it is important to donate blood, but that is equally important to have healthy lifestyles, play sports and be outdoors. A dragon boat arrives at the finish line only if all the crew members coordinate and help each other generously, as a team, and the same is the Avis, a large and united team ready to help those in need, who he always needs new and generous forces “.

Educational value

“At this moment Avis is focusing on initiatives like these – explains Tito Livio Peressutti, president of Avis provincial Venice – bringing young people closer is a good challenge that we intend to win”. Explains Simone Venturini, Councilor for Relations with the Voluntary Service of the Municipality of Venice: «There is maximum willingness of the municipal administration to collaborate to make known the message of the Gift, be it blood or marrow. I think that events like this that involve young people in outdoor sports have a very important educational value and are the right way to convey a fundamental message like this ».
