Winter sailing, Sunday regatta between Pesaro and Cattolica • Ilfoglia.it
PESARO – The winter sailing championship started, a traditional event organized by the Navy League of Pesaro, which involves the dispute of three days, with a reserve in case of bad weather. The first regatta, scheduled for 4 November, was canceled after two hours due to the absence of wind. The participating boats accepted the decision taken by the jury committee, also because a very particular phenomenon happened: “We recorded a measured current of 4 knots – explains Massimo Cecchini, technical manager of the regatta -, a rare phenomenon to see in the winter , we think it stemmed from the enormity of the rains that have reinforced the rivers that then flow into the sea. It happened that the boats, instead of proceeding towards Cattolica, where we had placed the classic 2.6-mile stick course, were rejected under the Ardizio. At that point we decided to stop the race by anticipating lunch and offering all the sailors the spaghetti with the rock “. The crews found themselves at the table together, in the renewed and welcoming headquarters of the Lega Navale, making an appointment next Sunday for the second race when, to recover the cancellation, two heats will be played. “There is a great desire to go back to the sea – adds Cecchini – for 11 November they confirmed their registration also boats coming from Rimini: they are welcome”.
