Lloyd’s Register Yacht Seminar 2018: In Viareggio the state of the art of international shipping regulations

Viareggio, 23 November 2018 – The Lloyd’s Register Yacht Seminar was held yesterday in the frame of the Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio, in the presence of over 150 technicians and designers of the Italian shipyards. As usual, Nautica Italiana has sponsored the event recognizing its educational and updating value, confirming the association’s commitment to its members and supporting the quality and excellence of the country’s nautical shipbuilding production.

The seminar tackled the most important regulatory and technological innovations in the international field for the sector, such as: cyber security on yachts, the safety of on-board materials dangerous for health and the environment, the updates of the MCA Large Yacht Code – Coast Guard of the United Kingdom, the new “polar code” dedicated to Explorer yachts sailing between the ice and the new class notations for hybrid propulsion yachts.

The seminar has in fact proposed to provide an update on the new regulations applicable to the design and construction of the yacht both from a classification point of view and the statutory regulations, highlighting what the effects may be for the designer, the construction site and the user the final.

In support of the Workshop, Nautica Italiana presented the updated data of the national and international yacht market and shipbuilding, which once again confirm the Italian leadership with a global share of the order portfolio of 41%, where 32% of the large yachts components of the world fleet, equal to 5300 units, was built by the shipyards of our country.
